The Honest Comparison
I build both WordPress and Next.js sites for Pakistani clients. They serve different needs. Here's my honest breakdown after working with 40+ clients.
Speed
- WordPress: 40-60 PageSpeed score typically. Needs optimization plugins (WP Rocket, etc.)
- Next.js: 85-95 PageSpeed score out of the box. Built-in optimization.
- Winner: Next.js
Security
- WordPress: Hacked frequently. 43% of all websites are WordPress — makes it a big target. Needs security plugins.
- Next.js: No CMS vulnerabilities. Static files can't be hacked the traditional way.
- Winner: Next.js
